How does Arcdome compress files without uploading them?
Arcdome runs entirely in your web browser. When you select an image, it is read into the browser's RAM using JavaScript's FileReader API. We then draw the image onto an HTML5 canvas element and export it using custom quality parameters via canvas.toBlob(). The entire calculation is done on your local hardware.
Can I compress images to a specific file size like 100KB or 50KB?
Absolutely. Our 'Target Size' algorithm is specifically designed for this. It takes your target size (e.g. 100KB) and runs an automated, smart binary search. It tests output sizes at different qualities (e.g., 75%, 38%, 56%) and, if quality reduction is insufficient, scales down the dimensions slightly until the image fits exactly under your target threshold.
Is there a limit on file sizes or amount of uploads?
We enforce a broad 15MB file size limit to prevent your browser tab from crashing due to memory limits on mobile devices. Beyond that, there are no restrictions. You can process thousands of files without paying or waiting in queues.
